When you choose a face shape, you can change the size of particular elements by clicking them. Click particular elements to change their appearance. Select the 'edit Sim' option from the menu. This opens the same menu that you are brought to upon creating your first Sim in the beginning of the game, only with your adopted Sim's face. Use the slider to adjust the Sim's skin color and then save the changes before returning to live mode.

You can open up the cheat console by hitting CTRL+Shift+C and then typing “testingcheats on” (without the quotation marks).

Hit enter and then type “cas.fulleditmode” (again without the quotations) and hit enter again.
